With the arrival of summer, Qatar Foundation (QF) has lined up an array of family-friendly, community-focused activities that offer something for everyone to enjoy over the coming months – from sport and fitness classes to cookery, camps, competitions, and concerts.

Through their collaboration with Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC), QF is providing summer activities at Education City that cater for all tastes, interests, and audiences, giving adults and children alike the chance to stay entertained and active over the summer season.

QF Summer Programme

The QF summer programme reflects the diversity, vibrancy, and inclusivity of its Education City environment, where facilities and spaces are open for the local community and visitors to the country to discover – for relaxation, physical activity, learning, and social interaction.

Community Summer Camp (16 June to 8 August)

An academic enrichment programme for children in two age groups – four to six years old and seven to 12 years old. The range of activities organised by QF Community Development are open for the public to explore and enjoy at these venues – QF Recreation Center, Education City Clubhouse, the Awsaj Multi-Purpose Court and Swimming Pool, and Multaqa (formerly the Education City Student Center).

Mukhayamna Summer Camp 2019 (23 June to 18 July) The QF Pre-University Education will be holding its Mukhayamna Summer Camp 2019 at Awsaj Academy, Qatar Academy Al Khor, and Qatar Academy Al Wakra. The camp is open to children three to 14 years old and aims to promote character-building qualities while allowing students to explore their talents and sharpen their skills, through a series of STEM programmes and recreational activities.

Sport and Fitness Summer sport and fitness opportunities at QF include the Education City Summer Swimming Camp and Family Fun Time swimming sessions; tennis, squash, volleyball, basketball, and badminton activities; aqua yoga sessions; men’s and women’s table tennis, billiards, and bowling tournaments; and a snooker and darts competition. Personal training sessions will give people the chance to stay in shape over the summer; zumba classes are also available for ladies.

Family Cooking Class / Art Classes A family cooking class will help children and parents improve their diet and understand the influence of food on their lives, while those looking to exercise their creativity can participate in experimental art and fabric-painting classes. Another activity – ‘Be A Birdwatcher’ – provides the chance for participants to get closer to nature. Younger members of the community can also join the PS4 gaming tournament, or attend a course where they will learn how to build their own robot.

Summer of Learning (2 – 5 July) The ‘Summer of Learning’ which will be hosted at the Education City Clubhouse, is an interactive programme offering a variety of experiments and activities on science and technology.

QCDC Career Academy (30 June to 11 July) Multaqa will also host the first edition of ‘Career Academy’ organised by Qatar Career Development Centre (QCDC), where high school students will get the chance to take an educational journey that will help them set their sights on their future career.
