Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC) is looking at a bigger and better event this year with the latest edition of the annual Qatar Sustainability Week 2018. The annual event will be held on 27 October to 3 November, in various venues across Qatar.
The event supports efforts to achieve Qatar’s sustainability goals, engaging public and private sector organisations in sustainable activities and fostering a culture of sustainability among residents.
Qatar Sustainability Week 2018 will kick off with the fourth edition of the Qatar Green Building Conference, on 28-30 October. The conference, under the patronage of HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation, will bring together industry leaders and sustainability experts to address and showcase innovative solutions to the most pressing environmental challenges in Qatar and the region.
Last year, over 20,000 people participated in Qatar Sustainability Week 2017, with over 200 events registered by over 100 partners. This year, QGBC is expecting even greater levels of engagement with the event.
According to QGBC Director Engineer Meshal Al Shamari, Qatar Sustainability Week has become a popular fixture on the Qatari calendar. He said that each year, they see more exciting activities and events, and more people taking part and attending.
The great thing about the week is that everyone can join in. There are plenty of events and activities to take part in, and any organisation can host their own event. We’ve already seen strong interest this year and we hope to see more partners sign up in the coming weeks. Qatar Sustainability Week is most successful when members of the community, as well as public and private sector organisations, join and take on an active role.’
