Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) runs through to Saturday, 8th April offering a tantalising events menu with all the right ingredients for visitors to enjoy a memorable weekend at Hotel Park. In addition to the daily fireworks display at 8 pm, the Festival’s final weekend promises entertainment for all ages. Special attractions include free open-air film screenings, food carving shows, health workshops and appearances by celebrity chefs at the Cooking Theatre.

In response to QIFF’s great popularity, Festival organisers, Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), have extended the opening hours on the weekend by two hours in the evening. On Friday and Saturday, it will be open from 2 pm until 1 am.

 

Creative activities

For a dose of family fun, festival visitors are invited to watch ice and fruit carving shows on the Festival’s main stage at 5:00pm on Thursday and Friday respectively. Additionally, there will be Eggshell Planting Workshops brought to visitors by Ezdan Mall from 5:30 pm – 6 pm on Friday and from 7:30 pm – 8 pm on Saturday.

For a more interactive take on food fun, festival goers can join Qatar Phone Art (@phoneartqatar) for a guided photo walk around the Festival grounds between 2 pm and 6 pm on Saturday.

Live Cooking

QIFF’s Cooking Theatre continues to feature a line-up of entertaining live presentations this weekend. Celebrity Kuwaiti Cook, Fawaz Al Omaim is due to share his flair for cooking at 5 pm and 7 pm on Friday and again at 5 pm and 8 pm on Saturday. Qatar’s first vegan restauranteur and co-owner of Evergreen Organics, Ghanim Al Sulaiti, is set to dazzle the crowds with his healthy and colourful recipes at 9 pm on Friday. And, on Saturday, QIFF’s final day, local celebrity chef, Aisha Al Tamimi will connect with her fans from 6 pm to 7 pm, bringing the taste of home cooking and tradition to the Festival.

Open air screenings

Festival-goers can sit back, relax and enjoy a special line up of  open air movie screenings. On Thursday, Dari Qatar: A film directed by all of us will be screened from 7 pm – 7:30pm. Later in the evening, Japanese short, Kiki’s Delivery Service will be screened from 7:30 pm – 8 pm and again from 8 pm – 8:30 pm. QIFF visitors heading to the Park on Friday, can watch the “Made in Qatar Film Programme,” which will screen from 7 pm – 8:10 pm.
