Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has launched the Eid Al Adha Festival, which will kick off the first day of Eid, on 15 October 2013, and continue for 12 days.
Over this period, Doha will host one of the largest cultural, artistic, and entertainment programs in the Gulf region. Residents and visitors in Qatar will witness first of their kind cultural and artistic shows, the exciting events and entertainment activities. In addition, in an effort to encourage more visitors into Qatar during Eid Al Adha, QTA is offering a range of travel and hospitality packages combining transport and activity options to make the festival even more accessible.
The Marketing and Promotions Director of QTA, Rashed Al Qurese, said:

We look forward to showcasing these assets during the Eid Al Adha Festival, which coincides with this important religious occasion. We have organised a myriad of activities which will provide entertainment for all ages and give visitors a chance to enjoy many exciting events and create memories with their loved ones.’

To develop the programme of activities, QTA has partnered with several tourist and cultural organisations along with shopping centers and entertainment facilities in Qatar. Visitors to Qatar from the GCC are invited to experience unique events and activities and enjoy tourist services designed exclusively for the festival. Continuing on the success of the Eid Al Fitr Festival, partners again include the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage; the Museum of Islamic Art, The Pearl-Qatar, Katara, the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association; Sawt Al Rayan; the Imam Muhammed bin Abdul Wahhab mosque, Aquapark Qatar; Qatar Air Sports Committee; Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum; and Al Dosari Zoo and the Game Reserve.
Many shopping centers are participating in the festival, such as City Center-Doha, Hyatt Plaza, Lagoona, Landmark, Villaggio, Al Khor Mall, and The Gate Mall. The latter is participating in the Eid Festival for the first time. A number of these shows and performances will be held for the first time in Qatar, including The Smurfs, Made in the Ice Age, the children’s favourite Ben 10, among others.
The Museum of Islamic Art, Souq Waqif and Katara Cultural Village are also participating in the festival. Katara will host fireworks shows for the first three days of Eid and Souq Waqif will play host to a variety of exciting shows and events. Other notable events, namely, the Live Bubble show and Water Screen Projections will be held at The Pearl-Qatar.
QTA has completed all preparations for the launch of the festival, including the reception of visitors at Doha International Airport and Abu Samra border crossing. Upon entry into Qatar, visitors will receive programme details for the festival, and other promotional material regarding various tourist attractions and entertainment programmes in the country.
QTA also welcomes the following partners hosting various activities, exhibitions and concerts: the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage; Qatar Shooting and Archery Association; Sawt Al-Rayan; Aquapark Qatar; Qatar Air Sports Committee; Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum; and Al Dosari Zoo and the Game Reserve.
The Eid Festival is an initiative of Qatar Tourism Authority to elevate Qatar as a family tourism destination in the region. Over the second quarter of 2013, QTA experienced increased tourism across all categories. GCC visitors increased 17% over the same period 2012, and international arrivals increased 6.6%. Increases are attributed to a wide variety of unique activities on offer in Qatar, including family activities. Qatar Tourism Authority has a key role to play in coordinating the development of a sustainable tourism sector in Qatar, and growing tourism’s contribution to a diversified national economy.
