Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) is offering a free ‘Park & Ride’ shuttle bus service to take visitors from the Q-Post office to the Qatar Summer Festival 2014 venues including the Doha Exhibition Center (DEC) where the Family Fun is taking place, and the Corniche, where the Fountain Fun summer activities are also taking place, until 27 September 2014.
Eid in Qatar & Qatar Summer Festival Project Manager, Mashal Shahbik, said:
We saw the shuttle bus service as being an essential part of this festival in helping facilitate the flow of visitors, ease the traffic around Doha, and helping eliminate any possible parking problem. We wanted to make it as easy as possible for people to get to the venues and enjoying the festival activities without having to deal with transport, and to ensure that our visitors get from point A to B as safely as possible. We chose the touristic Doha Bus due to their appealing facilities.’
The bus departs from the Q-Post office and passes by the two stations in one consecutive route.
The bus will be available on an hourly basis during the week starting from 3 pm until 10 pm. As for weekend, the bus will be available starting from 2 pm, until 11 pm. The service is operated by Doha Bus, Doha’s first tour bus giving visitors a great sightseeing experience.
Since the start of the festival on 4 August 2014, QTA has offered the shuttle service for various reasons, including high demand.
As part of the Qatar Summer Festival 2014, QTA has converted the DEC into an indoor 10,000sqm entertainment city featuring activities and programmes that cater to all ages; from extreme sports for adults, to soft play areas for kids. The DEC is split up into zones, with dedicated games areas – ranging from professional skateboarding ramps to bouncy castles, a food court area, and a retail area. There is also a stage for Baraem TV for plays and performances.
Baraem TV will be putting on a 45 minute theatrical play encouraging and educating children about social values, cooperation and goodwill, every weekend. The show will be on at 4:30 pm and 8:15 pm every Friday and Saturday from 8 August until 27 September 2014.
The DEC entertainment city will be open from 3 pm to 11 pm on weekdays, and from 2 pm to 12 am (midnight) on weekends. Although the entry is free, activities are priced between QR5 to QR30. Payment is only accepted through cash.
As for the Corniche, which is the first venue that the shuttle bus stops at, there are daily dancing fountain shows on until the end of the festival. During the week, the fountain show is running from 7 pm to 11 pm at 30-minute intervals, and on the weekends, the show is on from 6 pm to 12 pm at 45-minute intervals.
