Qatar University (QU) achieved seventh place in the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2018, among the 100 top universities in the Middle East, Asia and MENA regions, moving up by two places from its 2017 performance and by four places from its 2016 performance.

For the 2018 edition, 150 universities from 16 countries were evaluated. The QS University Rankings for the Arab region differs from the global ranking. They are developed with the aim to reflect specific challenges and priorities for institutions in the region. They include nine criteria: academic reputation (30%), employer reputation (20%), faculty-student ratio (20%), web impact (10%), proportion of staff with PhD (5%), citations per paper from Scopus (5%), papers per faculty from Scopus (5%), proportion of international faculty (2.5%) and proportion of international students (2.5%).

QU President Dr Hassan Al Derham said they are proud of this latest achievement that reflects QU’s progress in rankings. He pointed out that for the third consecutive year, the organisation continues to advance in its position among the region’s top universities.
