Qatar-Russia Year of Culture 2018
2018 has been declared as a Year of Culture between Qatar and Russia, a year-long programme developed by Qatar Museums to deepen understanding between the two nations through mutual exchanges of arts, culture, heritage and sports. Multiple cross-cultural collaborations, educational and charity events are held in both countries throughout the year.
Most recently, guests in Moscow were able to enjoy ‘Qatari Seasons’, a celebration of contemporary fashion design from Qatar with a presentation of three Qatari brands in Russia for the first time: Noudar Jewellery installation, Waad Abaya presentation and Wadha demi-couture fashion show. The event was held at the Multimedia Art Museum in Moscow. The designers also presented their work at Russia’s leading department store – TSUM.
Project Curator Frol Burimsky who organised the Qatari fashion event in Moscow and presented the Russian designers in Doha found the opportunity to curate the two projects quite an honour, since both were part of the Year of Culture Qatar-Russia 2018.
