The Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior (MOI) issued the following safety guidelines for using heaters, coal and wood this season.

The guidelines, which cover the use of space heaters, water heaters, and coal and wood, indoors are created to ensure public safety.

MOI urges the public to follow these safety guidelines to avoid any unlikely incidents.

  1. Regular or periodic maintenance of water heaters to ensure their validity.
  2. Make sure that your space heaters are connected directly to the socket and kept away from combustible materials. They should also be disconnected when not in use.
  3. Avoid lighting a fire indoors for heating. Burning wood and coal leads to toxic carbon monoxide emissions, which cause suffocation and choking.
