Brazilian Churrascarria is an incredible treat for any meat lover and the best place to enjoy it is at Ipanema in the Marriott Marquis City Center Doha!

This lively Brazilian Churrascaria showcases 12 cuts of meat and Rodizio-style service, set to the soundtrack of live music. Sadly, live entertainment isn’t allowed yet – but watch this space! With the recent relaxing of COVID-19 restrictions, there may be even more to enjoy at this decadent brunch spot!

While the Brazilian Churrascaria is the highlight of this brunch, you don’t want to make the mistake of ignoring the incredible South American treats on offer or the extensive buffet of appetisers, salads, roast vegetables, ceviche and so, so much more.

If you haven’t been to Ipanema in a while you might not recognise the place. Don’t worry – the funky art wall hasn’t disappeared – it’s just been enhanced but walls of hanging plants and new chic wicker baskets, and even more plants. The abundant sunlight, the art wall and the plants give Ipanema a warm glow where you feel happy to enjoy a languorous brunch with your friends.

Speaking of friends, what struck me about this brunch at Ipanema was how wonderful the gauchos (and gauchas?) like Rey were. Adorned in Brazilian themed dresses (on the ‘gauchas’ obviously) and a party attitude, they were a huge embellishment to our experience. We were taken care of by Izabel who brought us our drinks in not ones, not twos but threes! What more could you ask for?

Speaking of drinks, as soon as we entered we were treated to a loco coconut cocktail. A cart filled with fresh coconuts await – and if you are celebrating with the alcohol package – they’ll add a kick of something extra. In addition to the Coco Loco you have to try the different Caipirinha and Caipiroska flavours: classic, mandarin, and strawberry. According to Izabel, if you visit Brazil and you neglect to try Caipirinha rum – “you need to go back and try again!” The same sentiment certainly applies at Ipanema. You can also try the notorious Pisco Sour which comes in classic, mandarin, and strawberry flavours and is made with Peruvian Pisco – which is similar to grapa from Italy or cha cha from Georgia.

And now to the food! As you walk in to Ipanema, there is a huge cart of fresh empandas. There are many different flavours, like Cheese and Truffle, Wild Mushroom, Short Ribs, Lobster, Shrimp and lemon, and Potato Siracha. Regardless of the flavour, each empanda was tasty and cooked perfectly with a light but crunchy casing. In addition to the empanda station, there was a table decorated with corn on the cob and huge pots of tamales. The slivers of corn was grilled and coated in a sweet marinade which was absolutely scrumptious.

Towards the back of the restaurant, there is an extensive buffet of South American and Brazilian delicacies including ceviche, roasted vegetables, salmon, salads, cheese and burrata, and crochettes – to mention a few! In addition to this extensive buffet, there is a ‘design your own taco’ stand run by Richard, who is happy to make any flavour taco you would like. You can choose between beef, shrimp and chicken and an array of fillings and sauces.

After you have sampled the appetiser and salad buffet to your hearts content, its time to flip your coaster from ‘Red’ to ‘Green’. That begins a carousel of gauchos bringing you 12 different types of meat. The signature meat of Ipanema is the Picanha which has a large ‘cap’ of fat which make the meat incredibly tender and flavourful.

In addition to the Picanha, there are six other types beef on the menu like smoked topside of wagyu beef, rump steak and flank steak. Each are expertly prepared and oozing with flavour. In addition to beef, Ipanema offers other meats like marinated lamb chops with herbs and grilled prawns. There really is something for everyone!
If you still have room for dessert there is certainly plenty available. There is a dessert buffet which contains plenty of sugary delights – brownies, chocolate bark, cakes, churros, meringues, macarons and so, so much more.
This brunch is an incredible option for anyone who wants to really celebrate their Friday. It’s incredibly priced for the array of delicious food and drinks on offer. Ipanema is a wonderful eatery to dine in – it’s got a fabulous party atmosphere which is certainly infectious so you don’t only revel in the food and cocktails or mocktails but the atmosphere as well!
