Every Tuesday, Forknife at Qabila Westbay Hotel by Marriott transforms into a gastronomic goldmine, catering to those who desire to explore the diverse and vibrant flavours of Asia. Drawing inspiration from the rich culinary traditions of Asian hotspots like China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, and Thailand, Forknife presents an exquisite array of dishes that showcase the complex flavours of each nation.

Once known as Mövenpick Hotel West Bay Doha, Qabila Westbay Hotel by Marriott is at the heart of Doha’s business area, close to the Corniche promenade. It offers stunning views of the Doha skyline and the glimmering Arabian Gulf.

As a former Mövenpick venue, it boasts a legacy of high-quality hospitality which it continues under its new branding, aiming to give guests an ‘experience to remember’.

As soon as we arrived, Rio, the hotel’s energetic Marketing Executive and Restaurant Manager, greeted us at the entrance and guided us to our table.

I found myself drawn to the impressive buffet arrangement that we passed by on our way to the table.

The spread was teeming with popular dishes like sushi, kimchi, papaya salad, soy chicken, tempura, edamame, nasi goreng, and dumplings. I was keen to taste their sinigang, a fish stew known for its sour flavour profile, and the ensaladang talong – an appetising blend of eggplant, tomatoes and onions. I was not disappointed. The authenticity of the taste is evident in every bite.

On my second trip to the buffet, I chose roasted duck, sweet and sour fish, green curry and grilled fish complemented with soy dipping sauce – sawsawan – with onions and chilli. I also took some salmon teriyaki and, of course, a generous portion of jasmine rice.

For the grand finale, I made my way to the dessert station.

It showcased a variety of tropical fruits including dragon fruit, guava, mangosteen, and star fruit. In addition to these, traditional dessert classics like rice pudding, crème brulee and chocolate cake were also part of the delicious offerings on the buffet.
