Led entirely by students, the new Sherborne Qatar Radio (SQR) features entertainment and high-quality content that are produced and presented also by students. The project celebrates and showcases what young people can achieve independently when given the resources and guidance needed to realise their potential.

They have successfully produced an interesting first podcast in celebration of International Women’s Day with Olympic Rhythmic Gymnast Jade Faulkner and Marhaba Founder and Managing Editor Hilary Bainbridge.

Jade Faulkner made history in 2012 as part of the first British team to compete in rhythmic gymnastics at an Olympics. She visited the Sherborne Qatar Prep School for an assembly in January 2019 where she talked about her journey to the 2012 Olympic Games and held a series of workshops with pupils.

SQR is led by two student groups: the Green group and the Blue group. The Green group Show Manager Sofia Rouzier-Spinks and Deputy Show Manager Syed Muzammil Raza Abedi have already established a great working environment when they produced the station’s first podcast. Green group Show Manager Sofia also had major input in designing the logo for the radio station, giving direction to the graphic designer for the final logo design.

If you want to listen to SQR, the station may be accessed via Soundcloud, YouTube and Instagram. Follow them on these channels for the latest updates and information.
