Shop Qatar 2021 Design Week kicked off this Sunday, 3 October at the Doha Design District in Msheireb Downtown. Running until 9 October, Shop Qatar is hosting a series of fashion and cultural events, including design workshops and a Meet and Greet with renowned Indian American designer Naeem Khan.
In addition, there are over 30 pop-up shops at the Doha Design District featuring local designers, entrepreneurs as well as food and beverage outlets. The opening ceremony featured a pink-themed fashion roaming show in collaboration with Instudio, to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
According to Berthold Trenkel of Qatar Tourism, Shop Qatar is one of the most important retail and fashion festivals in the country, inspiring the various design disciplines in Qatar.
Through events such as this, we are able to showcase Qatar and its offerings to newer audiences. This year, our partnership with Doha Design District enables us to leverage this superb platform, and enable the sharing of the latest industry trends, with design workshops allowing aspiring artists and entrepreneurs to learn authentic craftsmanship.

It is part of our mission to promote the art and creativity scene in Qatar, offer a creative space for designers and artists to display their latest collections. Visitors are welcomed for a whole week to enjoy the event and the workshops which enrich their knowledge and experience.
Pop Up Shops
Over 20 local entrepreneurs will have pop-up shops at Doha Design District this week, from 3 to 9 October. Local artists and designers will also exhibit their work and build new client bases.
UK-based consignment store for sneakers and streetwear Presented By will also have a pop-up shop, where patrons can customise purchases. Visitors will be able to refuel at various food and beverage pop-up shops.
The final week of Shop Qatar 2021 will feature several design workshops for local talents. Seven workshops will be held at Doha Design District, hosted in collaboration with VCUarts Qatar and other partners. Registration to reserve seats and payment (if required) can be made through Virgin Megastore. The number of participants will also be limited following the guidelines of the Ministry of Public Health.

Doha Design District is also hosting a private viewing of the exclusive collection by Naeem Khan, on 8 October, between 4 pm and 6 pm. (Reservations can be made through 4433 5588)
There are a number of fashion activations featuring international designers as part of Shop Qatar 2021. Bollywood designer Manish Malhotra held three trunk shows at Mondrian Doha on 28-30 September, while Naeem Khan will also show his designs at Lagoona Mall on Thursday, 7 October, at 7 pm.
