Brunch in Bangkok? With genuine Thai cuisine, Banyan Tree’s signature award-winning restaurant will make you believe it!

Saffron Restaurant stays true to the classic culinary techniques of the Thai Kingdom and offers guests an authentic experience with indigenous ingredients and cooking methods passed down from generations, in a contemporary and artistic fashion.

We started with dreamily romantic cocktails, Bangkok Love Story and Summer in Siam, and soon were introduced to very tasty appetisers, the weirdly wonderful Crispy Rice Noodle-Wrapped Prawn and two types of tasty melt-in-your-mouth types of chicken – all scrumptiously yummy and hinting at more exotic tastes to come.

Now a Thai street scene unfolds – expert Thai staff are fashioning a salad for you, grinding and pounding, mixing and matching to make a real Som Tum, the iconic Thai starter Green Papaya Salad. To those who have only enjoyed soft, sweet, orangey papaya – there is a difference and it’s not just the colour!

And then a really tasty grilled duck with a very nice chili and mint salad, accompanied with fresh seasonal vegetables. This hits the high spot in the best blend of succulence and spiciness.

Staff are constantly helpful with any needed advice and complimentary soft drinks; their presence and dress, plus the decor, means that with only a little imagination, you could feel you were really in Bangkok. What doesn’t need imagination is that the best of Bangkok is irresistibly brought to your table.

With another exotic cocktail we are now ready for the main course; ‘courses’ actually as there are five of them.  You’ll enjoy saffron rice with seafood, chicken with cashew nuts and oyster sauce, traditional green curry with eggplant and tofu, a dish of the well-known Pad Thai with its wok-fried rice noodles with bean curd and bean sprouts, and finally Pad Pak Ruam which is stir-fried flavourful Asian vegetables in soya sauce.

1/10

What’s amazing is that in addition to the pre-starter puffy rice with three bowls of spices to indicate the levels of variety and verve coming up on the menu, we have had ten individual and unique dishes to savour in all their delicious complexity.

The totally-satisfying menu, plus your favourite drinks, the friendly, relaxed ambience and the very reasonable prices, make Banyan Tree’s Saffron Thai Restaurant the ideal spot to while away a few free hours on the weekend

Thai food the way it’s supposed to look and taste. Professional presentation. Another world. Wonderful experience.
