The Arabic department of Swiss International School Qatar (SISQ) is celebrating one of their Grade 7 students, Abrar, who won first place in one of the most prestigious academic competitions in Qatar – the Reading Olympiad Competition.

The competition is organised by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education every year and is open to middle school students from all schools in Qatar to participate.

Under the slogan A Nation That Reads, the Education Affairs Sector represented by the Department of Curriculum and Learning Resources, in cooperation with the Department of Private Schools Affairs in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, launched the second session of the Reading Olympiad project, considered as one of the most important national events aimed at spreading the culture of reading among students in public and private schools.

More than 1,000 students applied for the competition. Abrar had done an excellent job in reading more than 5,000 pages and also did summaries for each book read for the competition committee.
