Marhaba was invited to try the delectable Indian dishes at Mezzo restaurant of AlRayyan Hotel Doha

Mezzo restaurant, situated on the ground floor of AlRayyan Hotel Doha, Curio Collection by Hilton, offers guests the unique convenience of being located within the bustling Mall of Qatar. Guests can indulge in Mezzo’s culinary delights and then enjoy the extensive retail and entertainment options that the mall provides, all within walking distance.

As soon as we walked in, the rich smell of curries and tandoori welcomed us, and the food carts really made it feel authentic. I dove in with the pani puri, a well-known Indian street food, and found myself pleasantly challenged by its zesty heat.

The live station offered an array of bites: samosas, chicken rolls and cutlets, flaky puff pastries, and Paniyaram – the delightful ball-shaped South Indian dumplings, pan-fried to perfection.

Then, it was on to the salad station. Each dish brought its own unique blend of flavours and textures, from the Chicken Tikka Salad to tangy and satisfying Chana Chaat, and even the intriguing bite of the Bitter Gourd Salad.

At the dosa station, Chef Shehan Kodikara prepared a light and crispy dosa, which was a true delight. Over at the biryani food cart, the fragrant selection featured the mild flavours of Jeera rice, the richly seasoned Chicken Biryani, and the Lamb Biryani stealing the spotlight.

At the tandoori section, diners can choose their preferred marinated meats like prawns, lamb and chicken which are then expertly wrapped in banana leaves and grilled. This method not only infuses the meats with the subtle aroma of the banana leaf but also locks in moisture, resulting in a uniquely delectable tandoori experience.

The curry spread features a variety of dishes, including Sambhar Curry, Aloo Gobhi, and the ever-popular Butter Chicken – which is always on my must-have list at an Indian feast. Other dishes include Fish Curry, Paneer Jalfrezi, and Lamb Coconut Fry.

For dessert, there was an ample variety to satisfy any sweet tooth. The Chatpata Orange Shooter added a zesty twist, while the spread of fruits offered a fresh palate cleanser. Traditional sweets completed the lineup: the dense, milky Peda and Ladoo, rice pudding Paysam, rich and dense Mysore Pak; and the creamy Rasmalai. All these alongside a particular favourite, Mango Lassi, a creamy and delightful drink that you could enjoy to your heart’s content with unlimited refills.
