Katara Beach – Katara Cultural Village
One of the best beaches within Doha is Katara beach, which is Katara Cultural Village’s private beach, spanning over 1.5 km. Beach goers have a choice between enjoying a relaxed beach experience and diving into the fun with a great variety of adrenaline-boosting beach activities including water skiing, wake-boarding, knee boarding, para-sailing, windsurfing, sailing, boat rides, banana rides, sea pedal boats, canoe/kayak, hobbie cats and fishing trips.
Entrance to the beach is now free. However, those wishing to use the inflatable games will have to still purchase a day pass from the cashier at Gates 1 and 5. A day pass is QAR50 for all those above the age of six. Children under six can play free of charge. The tickets for watersport rides are available till 30 minutes before sunset. On weekdays, the entry is from 9:30 am to sunset and on weekend, last entry to the beach is at 9:30 pm, but swimming ends at sunset.

Sealine Beach Resort
Owned and managed by Katara Hospitality, this is a destination for families wanting a fun-packed break in beautiful surroundings and only a 45-minute drive from Hamad International Airport (HIA) and the city centre. The resort attracts guests who are looking for a comfortable atmosphere and comprehensive leisure facilities. Doha Sailing Club
Sailing is very popular in the Arabian Gulf and the Qatar International Regatta is a major annual event which contributes to world sailing rankings. The Doha Sailing Club promotes the sport in the area offering tuition for all levels, competitions and a social hub for sailing and rowing in the area. They have facilities for various types of boat including Optimists and Lasers. It is also possible to learn to windsurf at the Doha Sailing Club. If you’re looking to simply swim, most of Qatar’s sports clubs and hotels have pools, which are open to the public. However, an entry fee is required so make sure to call the club or hotel you wish to visit and find out what the entry fee and other requirements are. Many hotels offer special packages during summer, offering day passes to their pools and beaches.
Warning though – jellyfish are commonly found in Qatar’s waters!
