The weather is perfect for some Italian cuisine, and it’s off to Sprezzi for a quick getaway. The lunch destination is a chic poolside spritz bar, situated on the 10th floor of the Abesq Doha Hotel & Residences.

In the context of a bar or restaurant, the name Sprezzi might suggest a sophisticated, stylish, and relaxed atmosphere where elegance comes naturally. And you would be right!

We took a moment to admire the modern chic ambience of the place. Sprezzi is an indoor poolside bar where we enjoyed the view of the city and overlooked the Doha skyline and Corniche while having lunch. Outdoor seating is also available for those who want to stay by the poolside.

Our meal at Sprezzi started with a delightful array of appetisers. First up was the bruschetta, a classic Italian starter that was both simple and satisfying. The toasted bread was perfectly crisp, topped with a fresh mix of tomatoes, garlic, and basil that burst with flavour in every bite.

Next, the Salad Sprezzi stole the show with its vibrant medley of baby peppers, juicy tomatoes, and fresh basil. The crisp lettuce hearts and peppery rocket leaves were complemented by shavings of Parmigiano-Reggiano and tender slices of roast chicken, making it a refreshing yet hearty dish. With the appetisers alone, we were almost full.

Sprezzi offers an impressive selection of drinks, ensuring something for everyone. From bottled beers to spirits, the choices are extensive. For those who prefer non-alcoholic options like myself, there’s no need to worry as they offer drinks such as coffee, tea, fresh juices, and their must-try mocktails.

We particularly enjoyed their special drinks: The Sparkling Apple, a refreshing green apple, lime, basil, and sparkling water, and their Balsamic Strawberries, an intriguing mix of strawberries, balsamic vinegar, basil, and soda water. Both were delicious and unique, perfect for a warm day by the pool.

Moving on to the mains, we tried their Carbonara, which was a delightful mix of creamy sauce, crispy pancetta, and al dente pasta. This dish stood out and became our favourite.

Next, we tried their Lasagne alla Bolognese. This dish featured layers of rich, meaty Bolognese sauce, creamy béchamel, and perfectly cooked pasta sheets, all topped with a golden, cheesy crust – and I must say, given its size, it’s perfect for sharing.

We were full already, but we couldn’t miss their dessert. So we chose two delectable dolci. We tried the Tiramisu, dusted with cocoa powder on top. It was light, creamy, and not overly sweet—just perfect.

The Cannelloni Pancake, on the other hand, was a chocolate cream-rolled pancake with no-booze zabaglione and chocolate chips, another favourite. You may be wondering what no-booze zabaglione is: it refers to a version of the traditional Italian dessert zabaglione, typically made with sweet wine or liqueur, but this version is made without alcohol, Both desserts provided a perfect finale to our meal, ensuring we left satisfied.

Our lunch at Sprezzi was enjoyable, combining good food, lovely views, and a relaxed setting. Sprezzi offers a delightful dining experience with its well-crafted dishes and wide range of drinks, all set in a chic poolside atmosphere. Whether you’re in the mood for a light snack, a hearty meal, or a refreshing drink, Sprezzi has something to please every palate.

Sprezzi is open daily from 11 am until midnight. Make sure to check them out.
