Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) has announced its line-up of short courses for their art and design community classes, which will run from 16 January to 30 March 2022.

Eight courses in graphic design, interior design, fashion design, painting and printmaking, will be offered to the public. The classes, under the VCUarts Qatar Community Education Program, are conducted twice a year and designed to fit various interests, levels of skill and age groups.

According to Program Manager Aysha AlKhooheji, the art and design landscape is expanding, and their community education programme is constantly striving to adapt its courses to fulfil the needs of Qatar’s creative market.

Hence, this year, we’re offering learning opportunities with the aim of filling the community’s needs for high-quality education offered by experts.

She said that their instructors, who include school alumni, have considerable experience in leading such community classes, and they’re excited at the prospect of being able to introduce various art and design pathways to those keen to pick up new skills or enhance existing ones.

As the courses are in-person at VCUarts Qatar’s campus in Education City, participants are requested to adhere to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Public Health such as adhering to a one-metre distance between people, wearing masks at all times and showing their green Ehteraz status on request.

All instructors are fully vaccinated. Participants are required to be vaccinated or will need to provide proof of a weekly rapid antigen test as entry to in-person instruction.
