Students  from ACS Doha International School discovered how learning skills can be applied to the workplace during a recent visit to Qatar Business Incubation Centre (QBIC), to inspire them to make a difference. The event provided an opportunity for students to learn about the process and steps required to become an ‘entrepreneur’.

QBIC is the largest mixed-use business incubation centre in the MENA region, providing support services, workspace, and funding assistance to entrepreneurs and companies with an idea or concept to start a business, and empowering them to pursue their goals.

Fab Lab Tour, Business Practice

The students toured QBIC to see their office spaces, training rooms, and incubation workshops, and QBIC’s state-of-the-art Fabrication Laboratory or ‘Fab Lab’, allowing them to experience and test a wide range of cutting-edge tools and programmes used to digitally fabricate products or product prototypes.

The students also practiced the entrepreneurial process of adopting new ideas and thinking about how these ideas could be turned into a successful business. They also got the opportunity to meet some of the entrepreneurs at QBIC and to learn more about their journey towards creating a successful startup.

QBIC Business Development Manager Aysha Al-Romaihi was present to provide answers to questions that the students had regarding the details and process of starting any business. She said that the students filled the building with energy and enthusiasm.

Developing the next successful start-up begins with the younger generation; they represent the visionaries and innovators who will lead Qatar’s knowledge-based economy transformation.’

Rania Haddadeen, support teacher at ACS Doha International School said the students were very impressed with the advanced technologies available at QBIC, and the various success stories from different start-ups. She said that the school always encourage student-led learning – and this trip has allowed the students to get curious, explore for themselves, and have their questions answered.
