Successful and Wider-Reach Screen For Life Cancer Awareness Campaign
Screen For Life, Qatar’s National Breast and Bowel Cancer Screening programme, supported its month-long ‘October Means Breast Cancer Screening’ awareness campaign through a wide outreach programme aimed at engaging various communities across Qatar to mark the Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Screen For Life outreach team recently organised a series of lectures to raise awareness levels and encourage as many eligible women as possible to undergo complimentary breast cancer screening at any one of the Screen For Life screening suites located in Al Wakra, Leabaib and Radwat Al Khail Health Centres.
The Screen For Life team also conducted a series of awareness lectures with various organisations and companies including: Intercontinental Doha The City, RasGas Al Khor Housing Community, Qatar Petroleum – Mesaeed, American Women Association, DHL, Qatar Tourism Authority, Adagio Premium Apart Hotel, Diva Lounge Spa, al khaliji Bank, United Technologies Corporation – Carrier, Occidental Petroleum Corporation (OXY), and Qatar Women Sports Committee. Attendees to these awareness lectures get to listen first-hand the story of Breast Cancer survivor Chef Aisha Tamimi and her inspiring battle against breast cancer.
This month witnessed the presence of Screen for Life’s Mobile Screening Unit in various places and company premises offering on ground mammogram service to eligible women. Companies also extended support to the programme by placing awareness tent cards within its stores and having its staff wear the pink branded ribbons.
Three banks – al khaliji Bank, International Bank of Qatar and Commercial bank showcased the ‘October means Breast Cancer Screening’ ad on their ATM machines to promote the awareness message.
Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) Cancer Programme Manager Dr Shaikha Abu Shaikha said they were really encouraged to see the support of public and private sector in their ‘October Means Breast Cancer Screening campaign’.
The show of unity in everyone coming together to support our goal is a giant step forward for Screen For Life and our mission to reach as wide an audience as possible. I take this opportunity to thank all those who supported our initiatives and continue to get behind our vision.’
Led by PHCC and in collaboration with dedicated partners, the extensive programme has been critical to the success of the campaign across the state.
