Qatar Olympic Committee Prepares for National Sport Day 2016

With only one day to go to the start of Qatar’s National Sport Day 2016 on 9 February, the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) is encouraging all residents to make the most of Qatar’s sport-dedicated public holiday by celebrating Olympic year with all the family.

The QOC are offering three lucky winners the opportunity to win an iPad on National Sport Day. Simply take a photo of yourself participating in any of the sporting activities taking place across Qatar and post it on social media with the hashtag #BeOlympic and tag the QOC. The three photos that best display the Olympic spirit will win.

The QOC has teamed up with the United Development Company (UDC) to organise a host of activities for all ages on the Lido Venezia Beach in the Qanat Quartier of The Pearl-Qatar. From 9 am to 4 pm, the beachfront will come alive with sport, entertainment and competitions. Activities will include football, volleyball, basketball, fitness classes, an outdoor gym, an inflatable human foosball and wall climbing, plus many more.

QTA Collaborates with 47 Hotels to Offer Residents Healthy QNSD Experience


Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has finalised agreements with 47 members of the hospitality industry to offer Qatar’s residents and visitors health packages as the country celebrates National Sport Day on Tuesday, 9 February.

As the various participating hotels are providing different offers, QTA advises residents to check a detailed listing of the deals which it has made available on its website. Prior reservations are required – those interested should contact the hotel directly to make a reservation.

QFA and Qatar Shell to Celebrate National Sport Day with Koora Time

Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Qatar Shell will celebrate this year’s National Sport Day with a Koora Time ‘Run the Distance’ football competition. The event will be held from 9 am to 5 pm at Aspire Zone, Pitch 7 on Tuesday, 9 February and is open to the general public. No pre-registration is required.

Featuring over 1000 young players in a ‘Winner Stays On’ format, the match is not about who scores the most goals, but who takes the most steps and burns the most calories. Every player’s movement will be tracked using sports technology by STATS SportVU®, the Official Player Tracking Partner of Aspire and the NBA. The technology will gauge which team takes the most steps and burns most calories.

Koora Time National Sport Day activities will also feature a comprehensive fan zone area, offering numerous fun activities with something for everyone, including bubble ball, open play football, speed shot, shoot to score and aerobics.

HHQI Engages Regional Healthcare Providers at Arab Health

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) showcased the Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute (HHQI) at the Arab Health exhibition last week with the aim of building a network of regional healthcare providers in order to better understand and act on challenges faced by caregivers in the GCC.

HMC established HHQI with the single-minded purpose of improving the quality of healthcare within HMC, the State of Qatar and the greater region.

Ambulance Services Launches New Major Incident Response Vehicles HMC

At the recent International Conference in Emergency Medicine and Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation’s Ambulance Service (HMCAS) showcased their new Major Incident Response vehicles.

These new Major Incident Response vehicles join part of the overall HMCAS fleet, which includes more than 160 ambulances, 20 rapid response vehicles and three helicopters responding to more than 100,000 emergency medical calls each year.
