Dukhan Highway Central Ashghal
Starting Wednesday 12 November 2014, a temporary diversion on the access road to and from Celebration Road from Dukhan Highway will take place for 12 months

As part of its work on Dukhan Highway – Central, and to complete the road works on the new interchange near Al Rayyan Club on Dukhan Road (known as Rawdat Rashed Interchange), the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) will realign the access to and from Celebration Road from Dukhan Highway, starting on Wednesday 12 November 2014.

This diversion will be in place for approximately 12 months with 80 kph speed limit. Drivers coming to or from Celebration Road should follow the signs along the new diversion.

As part of the Expressway Programme, a new highway will be constructed with the mainline road starting west side of the existing Wajbah Interchange and concluding 1 km east of the town of Shahaniya. The project comprises 15 km of eight lane (four lanes in each direction) dual carriageway with hard shoulders and grade-separated interchanges to replace the existing two-lane dual carriageway. Local traffic movement is catered for by a single service road along both sides of the main carriageway and a two-way cycleway on the northern side. The upgrade of Celebration Road and Military Road is also part of this project.

Three new interchanges will be constructed; New Wajbah Interchange which will provide access to the Wajbah Palace, Rawdat Rashed Interchange which will provide access to Amiri Army Camp and Celebration Road and Duhailiyath Army Camp which will provide access to the Duhailiyath Army Camp.

The Project creates a strategic east-west highway providing vital connections across the country. This upgrade, alongside a number of other projects in the Expressway Programme, will provide a direct strategic link between the west into the heart of Doha. Two camel underpasses will be constructed along the route to ensure the safe movement of livestock. A two-way cycleway will be constructed on the northern side of the main carriageway..
