Leading international business and consultancy firm, The Business Year (TBY), launched its first Qatar publication during a commemorative launch event in attendance of HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, Minister of Economy and Commerce at The Ritz Carlton Doha, Hotel on 12 June 2014.
Director, Public Relations & Communications, Minister of Economy & Commerce, Tariq Abdulaziz Al Sada, said:
The Business Year documents the most significant steps taken by entities in the State of Qatar towards achieving Qatar’s National Vision 2030. This vision seeks to balance economic growth with human and natural resources, and we seek to support TBY due to the role it plays in highlighting the ministry’s goals to all of its audience and stakeholders.’
This economic research, in partnership with the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, was introduced by a keynote speech from the Minister, HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani. The speech was followed by interesting remarks from Betül Çakaloğlu, the Regional Director of TBY, and Leland Rice, Managing Editor, TBY.
The Qatar 2014 publication of The Business Year consists of around 150 interviews with top executives and government officials, including Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, Sheikh Abdullah Saud Al Thani, Governor, Qatar Central Bank; Sheikh Nawaf Nasser bin Khaled Al Thani, Chairman, NBK Holding and HE Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry. Furthermore, this research includes industry-specific articles that pinpoint the specific elements that will shape Qatar in the near future. All in all, the publication offers the international investor community a comprehensive first-hand look into the business opportunities that exist in Qatar.

The event saw a very good turnout with high profile individuals in attendance, including Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways, Sheikh Faisal Al Thani, Founder of Aamal and Al Faisal Holding, Rashid Al Mansoori, CEO of Qatar Exchange, Hamad Rashid al Mohannadi, CEO of RasGas, and Saad Al Muhannadi, President of the Qatar Foundation.
Since the Qatari economy is rapidly developing and aiming to achieve its ambitious National Vision 2030, The Business Year is committed to continue its work in the country and has already started its research for next year’s publication.
