The Dome of the Rock rests upon Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem and is one of the most iconic monuments in the world. The golden cupola is a symbol of the Holy Land and revered by Muslims as the place where the Prophet ascended to heaven; it is the third holiest place in Islam.
The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) are hosting a lecture by Dr Timothy Power from University College London Qatar (UCL Qatar) entitled ‘The Dome of the Rock; Meaning and Monumentality’. Open to the public, the lecture is on Wednesday 4th April at 6:30pm.
UCL Qatar offers courses beginning in September 2012. For more information visit UCL website.
