The Festival of the Senses

On October 12th The Ritz-Carlton hosted the opening cocktail reception of THE FESTIVAL OF THE SENSES, which Marhaba gleefully attended. On entering, we were told that they had hoped to create a night that people would be talking about for years to come, and it certainly was full of sensory magic.

As we walked down the red carpet into the outside reception area, there were dozens of paparazzi snapping photos of us and adoring fans shouting and whooping and Marhaba won’t pretend: it went straight to our head and made us smile. Then we were treated to the above sight while we sipped on luminous cocktails and admired everyone’s evening dress. But, of course, that was nothing compared to the main event, which was held in a large hall, with the ceiling painted like the outside sky and where musicians and singers were performing on raised platforms.
As lively popular music floated around, Marhaba dashed from the stalls the chefs were stationed at, sampling their lovely food, often going back for seconds (or thirds)! Everyone was huddled around tables, sipping champagne and nibbling delicious slices of beef and braised sea bass and spoons of foie gras… and all sorts of delicious things. The chefs de cuisine, who are from all across the globe, are masters in their field and all bring their own individual specialties to the mix and so everyone and anyone can find something to their taste on the menu. The Festival presents everything from Afternoon Teas for those who have a sweet tooth, to Wine Dinners and even cooking classes to those who fancy improving their own culinary skills.Very luckily, the The Festival of the Senses  is still on – the celebration of creativity and yummy food continues and Marhaba can definitely recommend going to an event for any foodies out there!
