Taking place under the theme ‘Learning Revolutions: Creating Educational Environments for Empowerment and Inclusion’, [email protected] – presented as part of the Global Goals Week, a series of events during the United Nations General Assembly under the auspices of the UN Foundation – allowed an international audience of practitioners and innovators to voice their opinions on education challenges around the world and share solutions, build new connections, and democratise the global education conversation.
The forum – the first to be held in the US by WISE – saw high-level speakers tackle key topics surrounding global education, including STEM learning for all, enhancing understanding of education data, the future of work, lifelong learning, and education funding.
Speaking about the goals of [email protected], WISE CEO Stavros Yiannouka, said only through collaboration and the democratisation of conversations can an understanding of the breadth and depth of educational challenges, and the solutions that lie ahead of them, be reached.
We believe that when people are empowered to choose what they learn, they can make the necessary changes to convert their knowledge into real action.’
Among the key elements of [email protected] was the celebration of the winners of the 2018 WISE Awards, and the projects developed by the 2018-2019 WISE Accelerator cohort. Both initiatives are designed to generate high-impact solutions and innovative projects in the field of education.
