As the pandemic swept through the world, changing our lives including the way we shop, for many, online shopping is steadily growing.

The demand for online shopping and home delivery services has surged after the COVID-19 restrictions in the country. 

Major supermarkets and hypermarkets such as Carrefour and Lulu are providing efficient and timely deliveries even during the weekends.

Carrefour, LuLu, and more have upped their online shopping and home delivery services, even partnering with online food delivery companies such as Talabat and Rafeeq to offer delivery services across the country.

Promotions, online deals, special discounts, reduced prices and free deliveries have enticed a large number of customers to shop online.

Al Meera

Al Meera Consumer Goods offers online shopping and home delivery services through almeera.online for fresh and frozen food, beverages, dairy products, personal care, baby products, cleaning products and more. 

You can create an account with Al Meera Online and save multiple addresses to your account for your convenience. Credit or debit cards are accepted as the method of payment to complete a purchase on their website. Cash upon delivery is not accepted. You may save your card or cards on your account for easier checkouts in the future.  

The minimum delivery order is QAR200. Delivery charges are QAR10 per order. Orders are accepted daily 10 am – 10 pm. Products are delivered within three hours from the order confirmation.

Al Meera’s delivery services currently covers more than 69 zones and the company is working to expand to cover more zones and wider areas.

In addition, in April 2020, Al Meera signed an agreement with Rafeeq App to offer delivery services. Muaither branch is dedicated to online delivery services across Doha.

Carrefour

Carrefour has always been leading online shopping, regardless of the pandemic. However, they’ve recently introduced new online and delivery services such as Valet Trolley & Home Delivery. The project is dedicated to MyClub Members and the address must be within the covered zones. The customer proceeds to the dedicated cash counter, requests Valet Trolley service, presents the loyalty reference if available and if not, requests registration from the supervisor. Carrefour verifies the customer’s details and chooses the desired slot delivery. Cashier scans the items, the customer makes payment and receives an SMS with delivery details. Twenty minutes prior to delivery time, the customer receives a second SMS reminder, and receives the goods and signs acknowledgment of delivery.

Carrefour covers Carrefour in City Center-Doha, Al Dafna, The Pearl-Qatar, Lusail, Carrefour in Villaggio, Al Waab, Al Aziziah, Muaither, and Ain Khaled. Ask a supervisor if your area is covered before you use the Valet Trolley service.

Same day delivery is applicable for orders, if placed before 10 am. Same day delivery is applicable as per capacity availability (first come, first serve). Slots related to same day delivery are 6 pm – 8 pm and 8 pm – 10 pm.

Delivery rates vary according to the total value of your order and according to the type of product. The minimum purchase is QAR50 with QAR10 delivery charge. For purchase orders above QAR100, delivery is free. Cash on Delivery (COD) handling rate is QAR5. Delivery of electronics inside Doha (TVs and appliances) is free of charge if your order value exceeds QAR500. 

Carrefour also has Carrefour Now, Express Delivery where products can be devlieved within 60 minutes, serving more than 17,000 products at your doorstep. Carrefour’s delivery services currently covers more than 90 zones.

Family Food Centre (FFC)

Family Food Centre (FFC) launched its online delivery platform family.qa in June 2020.

Customers shopping online can choose from over 20,000 products across categories such as fresh, groceries, cleaning and household items, pharmacy and personal care, baby products, kitchenware, glassware, home appliances, office and school items, and toys.

Customers can shop for groceries with free delivery on online orders above QAR300. For orders below QAR300, there is a delivery charge of QAR10. There are two delivery slots available: 8:30 am – 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm – 8:30 pm, so customers placing orders before 8 am get same-day delivery while orders that come in after 4 pm are delivered the next day.

The online delivery platform is mobile-friendly and also has an app on Android and iOS.

Payments can be made with credit or debit cards, Internet Banking, or Cash on Delivery (COD).

LuLu Group International

Lulu has introduced faster and more convenient ways for shoppers to get their grocery products and lifestyle essentials delivered through two services — Express Delivery for a same day delivery and Click and Collect for a store pick-up service through its online shopping platform, luluhypermarket.com

As part of the initiative, Lulu has partnered with taxi groups to deliver orders. All orders placed between 10 am to 5 pm will be delivered on the same day, while orders placed after the given cut-off time will be delivered the next day. 

Delivery is free for purchases QAR200 or more.

You can create an account online and begin shopping online by adding items to your cart. Delivery will be made to the address specified when you complete the order.

Spar

Spar Qatar introduced its online shopping platform, sparqatar.shop, in early 2020. Spar Qatar online shopping offers quality products and deals at value for money prices and exciting offers year-round. 

New customers register to create an account and select the correct zone, and start shopping.

Spar currently delivers to more than 90 zones until the capacity is improved. You will be notified during checkout if the delivery is not available in your area.

The minimum purchase is QAR150 for food and non-food and there is a QAR20 delivery charge. Delivery of electronics inside Doha (TVs and appliances) is free of charge if your order value exceeds QAR500.

While purchasing your item(s), remember to provide a mobile phone number. The delivery team will call you when they are on their way to give you an estimated time of arrival.
