Liz Moore

In the early morning, August 1975, a camp counselor discovers an empty bunk. Thirteen-year-old Barbara Van Laar has gone missing. Barbara isn’t just any camper; she’s the daughter of the family that owns the camp and employs many locals. Shockingly, this isn’t the first Van Laar child to disappear – her older brother vanished fourteen years ago and was never found.

As a frantic search begins, a gripping drama unfolds. Delving into the layered secrets of the Van Laar family and the blue-collar community in its shadow, Liz Moore’s multi-threaded story invites readers into a rich and captivating saga of secrets and second chances. ‘The God of the Woods’ is Moore’s most ambitious and expansive novel yet.
