This Week’s Top Choices to Watch, Read and Listen to

Tune in each week as Marhaba delves into the wonderful world of popular culture to find the best new TV series, movies, books, and music.

BINGE WATCH THIS:

New to Apple TV+ is the welcome return of lovable football manager Ted Lasso. You will be glad to know that Season 2 of the successful comedy still stars the excellent Jason Sudeikis in his award-winning role as one of TV’s nicest guys. It picks up the action with AFC Richmond having drawn the last six games following their relegation in the previous season. New for Season 2 is the addition of Sarah Niles (I May Destroy You) as Sharon, a sports psychologist brought in to help the Richmond players. A difference in personalities between Ted and Sharon may lead to some off-pitch difficulties, but you know that Ted will take it all in his cheerful, bumbling stride!

GET THE POPCORN FOR THIS:

Jungle Cruise is the new big-budget fantasy adventure film starring Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock, which had its world premiere alongside the reopening of the Jungle Cruise ride at Disneyland. Johnson is ‘Skipper’ Frank Wolff, a tie-in to the ride’s wise-cracking guides, who is hired by the eccentric Dr Lily Houghton (Blunt) to take her and her brother McGregor (Jack Whitehall) down the Amazon River in search of the healing Tree of Life. Of course, the trip doesn’t go according to plan, with the trio fending off dangerous animals and trying to beat a rival team getting to the tree first. Catch the movie at the cinema from 30 July and via Disney+ with Premier Access.
