Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon return for the second season of the hit drama series The Morning Show. The last time we saw them as Alex and Bradley, they were facing the mad-as-hell aftermath of revealing the toxic culture of their newsroom workplace. Now the second season picks up where it left off with 10 new episodes, with each one rolling out weekly, tackling issues like the COVID-19 pandemic, racism in the media. It even features a ‘Friends’ reference. The series also casts Steve Carell, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass and others.

With The Morning Show episodes releasing one by one weekly, you might look for other stuff you can binge. ‘Cry Macho’
HBO Max | 17 September

At age 91, it seems like Clint Eastwood is not retiring yet! Eastwood, whose first film was released half a century ago, is back in Cry Macho, a neo-Western drama film directed and produced by Eastwood himself and adapted from the 1975 novel of the same name by N Richard Nash. The plot follows a former rodeo star who is hired to reunite a young man (Eduardo Minett) in Mexico with his father (Dwight Yoakam) in the United States. And here, we see the nonagenarian Eastwood back in his cowboy boots, even throwing a punch and getting on a horse on set.

SETTLE IN WITH A CUP OF TEA AND READ THIS:

Harlem Shuffle | Colson Whitehead

From two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning author Colson Whitehead comes this entertaining novel of elaborate thieves, crooks, all those who are up to no good and others who are just trying to make a living. Set in Harlem in the 1960s, Harlem Shuffle follows Ray Carney who is caught between his family’s penchant for shady deals and his desire to be clean.

Official book overview reads:

‘Harlem Shuffle’s ingenious story plays out in a beautifully recreated New York City of the early 1960s. It’s a family saga masquerading as a crime novel, a hilarious morality play, a social novel about race and power, and ultimately a love letter to Harlem. But mostly, it’s a joy to read, another dazzling novel from the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award-winning Colson Whitehead.’

CRANK UP THE VOLUME FOR THIS:

star-crossed | Kacey Musgraves

Grammy Award-winning Kacey Musgraves is back with her new album star-crossed, a follow-up to her breakthrough 2018 album Golden Hour. Star-Crossed is a breakup record, written in the aftermath of the singer’s divorce. While Musgraves pushed the sonic and lyrical boundaries of country music in her past music, listeners will find that the new album is a complete departure from the genre altogether.
