‘Pieces of Her’

Netflix is bringing to us yet another book to series adaption in the form of Pieces of Her. The detective thriller premiering this Friday is based on the acclaimed Karen Slaughter novel by the same name. In this original series, Academy-award nominee Toni Collette stars as Laura Oliver, a mother whose dark past is unearthed after a violent attack in her small town brings her secrets to light. Collette is joined by Omari Hardwick, David Wenham, Jessica Barden, and Bella Heathcoate as her suspicious daughter.

‘The Weekend Away’
Netflix, 3 March

Here is another film that is adapted from a best-selling book. Based on Sarah Alderson’s novel of the same title, The Weekend Away follows two best friends, Beth and Kate played by Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester and Batwoman‘s Christina Wolfe respectively, who went on a weekend getaway to picturesque Croatia. It’s almost too good to be true for Beth up until the part where her best friend is murdered and she becomes the primary suspect. While being accused as a murderer, Beth races to figure out who killed Kate. The thriller film debuts on the streamer this Thursday.

‘Run Towards the Danger: Confrontations with a Body of Memory’
Sarah Polley, 1 March

In this collection of essays, Oscar-nominated screenwriter, director, and actor Sarah Polley explores the role memory has played in the most defining moments of her life. The book, one of TIME’S recommended books to read this March, looks back at some of Polley’s most personal, formative experiences. In the official book synopsis, Polley mentioned:

‘These are the most dangerous stories of my life. The ones I have avoided, the ones I haven’t told, the ones that have kept me awake on countless nights. As these stories found echoes in my adult life, and then went another, better way than they did in childhood, they became lighter and easier to carry.’

‘Run Rose Run’
Dolly Parton, March 4

Country music icon, Dolly Parton, is releasing her 48th solo studio album this Friday. Entitled Run, Rose, Run, the 12-track record is the companion project to an original novel of the same title, co-authored by Parton herself and bestselling author James Patterson. The first track of the collection Big Dreams and Faded Jeans is already released. Check it out below.
