Tune in each week as Marhaba delves into the wonderful world of popular culture to find the best new TV series, movies, books, and music.

BINGE WATCH THIS:

Snoopy is em-‘bark’-ing on new adventures together with the ‘Peanuts’ gang in the upcoming children’s animated series ‘The Snoopy Show’. The beloved beagle and his feathered best pal Woodstock will be joined by Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Franklin, Schroeder and Peppermint Patty. The series was first announced on 2 October 2020 to promote the 70th anniversary of ‘Peanuts.’ It will be released on 5 February on Apple TV+.

GET THE POPCORN FOR THIS:

A new documentary by The New York Times entitled ‘Framing Britney Spears’ examines what the public might not know about the pop star’s court battle with her father for control of her estate. For 13 years now, Spears hasn’t been able to fully live her own life, stuck in a court-sanctioned conservatorship. The documentary also delves into the so-called ‘Free Britney’ movement made up of fans of one of the music industry’s biggest superstars.  The feature-length film premieres this Friday on FX and Hulu.

SETTLE IN WITH A CUP OF TEA AND READ THIS:

WTWRLT

O’Connor Prize winner Carys Davies has followed her highly praised debut, West, with another jewel of a novel. ‘The Mission House’ features the story of Hilary Byrd, a dissolute British man who escaped the coop of his native country on his own passage to India, where he basks in the rhythms and textures of his adventure, renting a guest house in a presbytery and forging bonds with his rickshaw driver and the Padre’s daughter. And yet religious tensions stalk his safehouse in an elegant tale that probes the jagged shadows of colonialism.

CRANK UP THE VOLUME FOR THIS:

The Foo Fighters are back with their 10th album ‘Medicine at Midnight’ which was described as the most upbeat music they’ve ever made. RollingStone writes that the album is brighter and more optimistic than anything they’ve ever done.  The band finished ‘Medicine’ before the COVID-19 pandemic, which may account for its upbeat mood.
