Marhaba recently checked in at the Westin Doha Hotel & Spa for a weekend family staycation. Here are the top things we loved about the stay.

Heavenly Bed

Heavenly Bed Westin Doha Hotel

True to the name, this bed is the heavenliest of all. The Heavenly® Bed is made with all the right ingredients to brew a night of restorative sleep, and wins brownie points for its plush, pillow-top construction.

Our toddler, who otherwise needs a combination of reading, snuggling and lullabies, absolutely loved it and went to sleep without any effort. He even made a record by waking up at 7 am, instead of his regular 5:30 am body-clock wakeup call. A big YES! to this marvellous masterpiece of a bed.

The Family Suite

Westin Doha Hotel Family Suite (2)
Master bedroom

Perfect for a staycation, the family suite features two bedrooms, ensuite bathrooms, living and dining areas, a guest washroom, solid wood flooring and a BOSE surround system. Rooms are spacious and the furnishing world-class. It was all just beautiful, we loved the  big windows which have uninterrupted views of the pool area and Doha skyline.

Waves Pool

Five stars for the pool facilities at the property! The wave pool is perfect for toddlers, while the kids pool is perfect for their older siblings. And the grown-ups can soak up in the outdoor infinity pool next to the Waves Pool Cafe.

Sabai ThaiWestin Doha Hotel Sabai Thai Restaurant Doha Qatar (13)

There are only a few places in Doha for authentic Thai cuisine. Sabai Thai at Westin Doha makes it to the top of the list without any doubt. From the crispy prawn crackers to the Thai mango sticky rice, everything has the perfect Thai touch.

Must-try dishes: Gui Chai (Steamed Chinese chive dumplings with garlic oil, chilli black vinegar sauce, vegetarian); Ped Nam Makarm (Crispy duck with tamarind sauce and fried onions); Laksa (Malaysian spicy coconut curry noodle soup, prawns, tofu, crispy onions); I Tim Kati (coconut ice cream)

The highlight of a Westin Doha staycation is that you have three awesome outlets to choose from. If you are a steak lover, make sure to visit Hunter’s Room & Grill at Westin Doha. Great ambience, kid-friendly staff (yes!), a live kitchen and friendly Chef Esteban Guevara who makes sure to check your preferences before the meat is placed on one of the high-temperature broilers.

Must-try dishes: Kale salad (granny smith apple with pomegranate, pumpkin seeds, mint honey mustard and smoked salmon); Beef carpaccio (beef tenderloin with wholegrain fig mustard, enoki mushrooms, chipotle aioli, truffle oil and parmesan cheese); Chef’s signature dishes combining Black Angus Tomahawk, a succulent 1.4 kg cut carved at the table and served with three side dishes and two sauces, alongside Chef Esteban’s 12 hour slow-cooked Argentinian Malbec short ribs with palm sugar and polenta, and delicious T-Bone or Tenderloin steaks.

Kid-Friendly Staff

Child Friendly Hotel Westin Doha Hotel

For the first time in a while we actually spent three hours at a restaurant for lunch! We usually end up fleeing the place in 20 minutes with a takeaway (or not-taking-anything-away) to save ourselves and fellow diners from toddler tantrums. The staff at all of the Westin Doha outlets – Sabai Thai, Hunter’s Room & Grill and Seasonal Tastes – are so friendly with children that it seems they have taken special training in this. They kept our junior reviewer entertained with food, crayons, colouring books and even took him for a stroll.
