Marhaba recently checked in at the Westin Doha Hotel & Spa for a weekend family staycation. Here are the top things we loved about the stay.
True to the name, this bed is the heavenliest of all. The Heavenly® Bed is made with all the right ingredients to brew a night of restorative sleep, wins brownie points for its plush, pillow-top construction.
Our toddler, who otherwise needs a combination of reading, snuggling and lullabies, absolutely loved it and went to sleep without any effort. He even made a record by waking up at 7 am, instead of his regular 5:30 am body-clock wakeup call. A big YES! to this marvellous masterpiece of a bed.
Did You Know: This March Westin is celebrating National Bed Month with a series of activities, including this contest on their Facebook page.
The Family Suite
Perfect for a staycation, this family suite is complete with two bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms, living and dining areas, guest washroom, solid wood flooring and BOSE surround system. Rooms are very spacious and the furnishing world-class. It was all just beautiful, we loved the big windows which has uninterrupted views of the pool area and Doha skyline.
Westin Eat Well Menu for Kids
Picky eaters easily give their tantrums a go when dining out, but not with the Westin Eat Well Menu for Kids. The menu, created in association with the experts at SuperChefs™, offers nutritious food prepared and presented the way kids love it. Comprised of doctors, dentists, chefs, dieticians and other experts, SuperChefs is dedicated to educating kids on the importance—and the fun—of eating smart. Eat Well Menu is a must try when you are dining with kids at any of the Westin Doha outlets.
Did You Know: The Eat Well Menu for Kids at Hunter’s Room & Grill features Grilled Chicken Kebab, Mac & Cheese, Mini Angus Beef Burger, Grilled Chicken and Flat Bread. We opted for Mac & Cheese and our little one loved it!
Five stars for the pool facilities at the property! The wave pool is perfect for toddlers, while the kids pool is perfect for their big brothers/sisters. And the grownups can soak up in the outdoor infinity pool next to the Waves Pool Cafe.
Did You Know: You can host a children’s wave pool party at the Westin Doha. Package includes exclusive access to the Wave Pool, dedicated buffet selection, personalised celebration cake and pool decoration. Get the details here.
There are only a few places in Doha for authentic Thai cuisine. Sabai Thai at Westin Doha makes to the top of the list without any doubt. From the crispy prawn crackers to the Thai mango sticky rice, everything has the perfect Thai touch.
Did You Know: The must try dish at Sabai Thai is Gai Pad Med Mamuang aka stir fried chicken with cashew nuts, spring onion and chilli paste.
Bonus: Sabai Thai will be representing Westin Doha at the Qatar International Food Festival 2018. Don’t miss to pay a visit.
Hunter’s Room & Grill
The highlight of a Westin Doha staycation is that you have three awesome outlets to choose from. If you are a steak lover, it is not wise to give Hunter’s Room & Grill at Westin Doha a miss. Great ambiance, kid friendly staff (yes!), live kitchen and a very friendly Chef Bradley who makes sure to check your preferences before the meat is placed in one of the high-temperature broilers.
Must Try: Malay Tapas (traditional South African favourites; chicken bunny chow, pulled lamb vetkoek and bootie samosa with aubergine atchar), Cream of Mushroom Soup, Hunters Signature Steaks (Australian Black Angus). Chef Bradley recommends to try the steak medium rare to enjoy the meat flavours to the fullest.
Kid Friendly Staff
For the first time in the last 2 years we actually spend 3 hours at a restaurant for lunch! We usually end up fleeing the place in 20 minutes with a take-away (or not-taking-anything-away) to save ourselves and fellow diners from toddler tantrums. The staff at all Westin Doha outlets – Sabai Thai, Hunter’s Room & Grill and Seasonal Tastes – were so friendly with kids that it gives you a feel they have taken special training in this. They kept our junior reviewer entertained with food, crayons, colouring books and even took him for a stroll.
Disclaimer: Marhaba was a guest of Westin Doha Hotel & Spa, but the above review is entirely based on the experience and views of a working mum with a super active toddler and a baby bump. She may sound biased wherever she talks about a comfortable kid and child-friendly ambiance.
