Always considering the travel health and safety of its passengers paramount, Turkish Airlines completed the SAFA (Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircraft) programme implemented by EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) in 2021 with significant success.
Undergoing 74 assessments by 38 civil aviation authorities in 57 airports in Europe, the flag carrier became one of the most successful airlines in Europe with nearly zero findings (0.054 rating). This ratio became the most successful performance of Turkish Airlines to date and showed the continuous improvements of the flag carrier when it comes to flight safety.
The programme that inspects foreign airline companies in Europe which is spearheaded by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in Turkey as a full member, aims to monitor the measurability and sustainability of flight safety. Turkish Airlines managed to excel greatly above the EASA average (0.44 rating), which takes pre- and post-flight national and international regulations into account, inspecting nearly 500 requirements at a large scale.
Following the 2021 SAFA result, Turkish Airlines General Manager Bilal Ekşi stated that every day, hundreds of thousands of passengers from 128 countries around the world trust Turkish Airlines as they make the journey to be with their loved ones. He said that they do their utmost to repay that trust by perfectly planning every stage of their passengers’ journey.
As a result of that effort, we successfully completed the SAFA programme’s 2021 assessments at a much higher ratio compared to the European average and proved our identity once again as a trusted airline.
He added that they will continue their efforts to keep increasing flight safety and travel comfort of guests to a higher level every day.
By lowering its finding ratio and reaching the perfect level in the SAFA programme, a trusted safety parameter for the aviation world, Turkish Airlines will continue its investments to improve its flight safety standards even more while increasing its guest’s travel comfort and take every measure possible for flight safety.
