Turkish Cargo Builds Up Global ‘Air Bridge’ for Special Cargo Shipments
Carrying one shipment for every 20 air cargo carried around the world, Turkish Cargo increased its global market share to 5.4% from 3.9%, accomplishing a 67% growth within the first half of 2020, thanks to its special cargo operations.
In addition to its wide flight network encompassing the globe, Turkish Cargo, being a notable logistics solution partner for their uninterrupted special cargo shipments transported all essential cargo shipments like pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and valuable cargo to/from destinations like London, Dubai, Amsterdam and Maastricht.
The global air cargo brand carried 30,000 tonnes of medicines and nearly 10,000 tonnes of medical equipment between 1 February and 31 August this year.
Being the first air cargo brand that holds all three certificates – CEIV Pharma, CEIV Fesh and CEIV Live Animal – issued by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Turkish Cargo ensures high standards at its special cargo storage rooms with various temperature ranges available. These facilities, with a total area of 3,500 sqm, are housed in Istanbul and Ataturk airports.
While it continues to accomplish the storage and operational processes for the special cargo shipments in accordance with the Perishable Cargo Regulations (IATA PCR), Turkish Cargo implements the cargo sorting procedures following set standards.
Turkish Cargo is also ready and capable to transport the COVID-19 vaccine, minimising the risk for health-care products with high level of sensitivity and making use of active temperature-controlled Envirotainer and CSafe containers, the electrical airconditioning container Opticooler, Thermal Dolly and disposal thermal sheets equipped with thermal isolation features.
