The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara this week opened the two art exhibitions – Land of the Dark by artist Noor Al Hadi from Sudan, now on display at Building 18, and Portrait featuring Qatari artist Ebtesam Al Saffar and Indian artist Surabhi Gaikwad, at Building 19. 

 

Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti inaugurated the two exhibitions during an opening ceremony attended by officials from the Embassy of Sudan in Qatar, led by HE Fath Al Rahman Omar, Ambassador of Sudan to Doha. Sulaiti and the VIP guests had a tour around the exhibition, examining the art on display.

Land of the DarkBesides hosting local artists and their artwork, Katara is always open to host artists from different countries and art trends.’

Land of the Dark showcased 32 artworks that reflect the Sudanese culture and the country’s rich heritage, a presentation of different eras in the Sudanese history as well as an introduction to local costumes of different places in Sudan.

Portrait exhibition is the result of the combined effort between Qatari artist Ebtesam Al Saffar and Indian artist Surabhi Gaikwad, part of the highlights of Qatar-India Year of Culture. Both exhibitions are open daily from 10 am until 10 pm until 13 July.
