The third edition of University Expo Qatar successfully opened this week with a record number of public and private schools visiting on the first day. The two-day event is held at The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa.

Education officials attended the opening ceremonies, led by the Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Affairs in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar HE Dr Khalid Abdulla Al-Ali; Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry First Vice Chairman HE Mohamed Bin Ahmed Twar Al Kuwari and Board Member Mohamed Bin Ahmed Al Obaidly.

University Expo Qatar is the leading higher education fair and the only event of its kind in the country.

University showcase

Organised by Informa Tharawat, the expo only features universities that are approved by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Over 40 local and international universities from seven countries are showcasing their academic programmes. A popular feature this year is the Success Hub which includes informative sessions on how to apply to a university, information on visa applications, campus life and more.

Day One featured 14 seminar sessions in the new Success Hub with featured discussions on the following topics:

  • The five steps to study in the US (US Embassy Qatar)
  • Career opportunities after studying Math and Computer Science (University of Waterloo)
  • UDST and the programmes they offer (University of Doha for Science & Technology)
  • University life on campus (CUC Ulster University Qatar)

Attendees also met with university representatives to discover courses, and enquire about scholarship opportunities, fee structures, and campus offerings amongst many other important topics, to support them in their higher education journey.

Students and parents in attendance expressed how the exhibition helped them discover academic opportunities in Qatar and abroad and broaden their options for a university, as they were better able to understand the requirements after meeting school representatives in person.

Informa Tharawat General Manager Alan Kelly said they strive to ensure that the event serves its purpose as a platform to support and connect students, parents and mid-career professionals looking for universities.

We witnessed a stellar number of registrations and are amazed by the turnout – students are now eager and excited to embark on their journey to face-to-face learning.

The event also featured 14 seminar sessions on the second day, on topics that include

  • How to prepare students for college and career success
  • How to make my college application stand out
