The State of Qatar and the United States of America enjoy deep relations and close partnerships in all fields, especially in economic and commercial areas. The statement was made by Qatar Chamber Board Member Ibtihaj Al-Ahmadani, during the private sector event held on the sidelines of the US-Qatar Strategic Dialogue 2023, which kicked off this Tuesday, 21 February, at The Ritz-Carlton, Doha.

She said that the US is one of Qatar’s most valued and largest global partners, their bilateral trade volume amounted to US$5 billion in 2021 and is estimated at US$4.5 billion in the first nine months of 2022.

The event was also attended by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Undersecretary, HE Sultan bin Rashid Al Khater and State Department Special Representative for Commercial and Business Affairs HE Dilawar Syed.

Attractive investment climate in Qatar

On mutual investments, Al-Ahmadani noted that there are more than 400 US companies operating in the Qatari market in various sectors, and registered in the Qatar Chamber. Forty companies are operating with 100% American capital, with the rest of the companies under a Qatari-American partnership. She also noted the many successful Qatari investments in the US across different sectors, especially in real estate, hospitality and infrastructure sectors.

Underscoring the attractive investment climate in Qatar, she also mentioned factors such as political stability, state-of-the-art infrastructure, stable currency, and low corporate tax rates, as reasons why foreign investment flows from countries all over the world.

Al-Ahmadai invited US companies to expand investments in Qatar and take advantage of the incentives offered by the state for foreign investors, calling on businessmen from both countries to enhance their cooperation by establishing commercial partnerships and alliances, whether in Qatar or the US for the benefit of both economies.

She stressed that Qatar Chamber highly supports and encourages enhancing cooperation relations between the Qatari private sector and its counterpart from the US, especially after Qatar’s remarkable success in hosting the FIFA World Cup™ and in line with the efforts being made to accomplish targets set for Qatar National Vision 2030.
