The fourth edition of Qatar Sustainability Week (QSW), under the patronage of HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, officially kicked-off this week with over 200 sustainability-related activities and events all over the country and in every community. It will run until 2 November.
The week-long national sustainability initiative of Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), will showcase the efforts of the public and private sectors and their innovative, practical solutions to the environmental challenges facing Qatar and the wider region. Engaging a diverse range of stakeholders will also facilitate the coordination needed to unite under an overarching umbrella and facilitate the delivery of Qatar National Vision 2030 in line with the global sustainability agenda.
QGBC Director Engineer Meshal Al Shammari said that initiatives like this build bridges for communities to join national and global movements, while also highlighting the major milestones the country has reached through sustainable practices.
With the backing of our sponsors and supporting partners, who are making real and measurable differences, we look forward to welcoming Qatar’s residents to the diverse events taking place throughout the coming week.’
Sustainability campaigns run by government and private bodies, hotels, restaurants, universities, and schools will allow for engagement their respective communities during QSW 2019. Informative talks and lectures, hands-on workshops on lean thinking in public governance and construction, ‘Run for Wellness’ at Aspire Park, a beach and desert clean-up, Future Vision – Botanical Art Exhibition, waste management and recycling campaigns are among the sustainability-oriented activities taking place all over the country.
