Young children and teenagers can learn new skills and make new friends during the summer holidays at VCUarts Qatar
Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) has launched the 2019 edition of its summer art and design programme for children and high school students. The classes will start on 29 June and will run until early August.
The classes are open to children as young as four years old, with courses on fashion design, interior design, app design, video game design, t-shirt design, painting, printmaking, collage making, fashion illustration, robots and many more.
Art Explorers – Under the Sea (4 to 6 years old)
Children will print, paint, sculpt and experiment with mixing medias to create their own interpretations of undersea life and ‘water’ worlds.
Robot Art Explorer Course (6 to 8 years old)
The class will explore their creativity and art skills by experimenting with a variety of media to create two-and-three-dimensional robot artworks.
Fashion Illustration (10 to 14 years old)
Kids will work with a variety of media and techniques to create fashion illustrations with different fashion fabrics. They will be introduced to diverse fashion drawings and fashion illustrators.
Coding and Video Game Design (5 to 8 years old)
Kids will step into the world of computer programming and learn how to code and create video games, animations, stories and interactive programmes. They will acquire the fundamentals of programming including loops, conditional statements, and event broadcasting.
Design Thinking Class (16 years old and up)
Students will create a personal mood board to represent each one of the participants. They will create a digital and physical board using simple techniques of collecting inspiration aided by Adobe programmes like Illustrator and Photoshop which will be taught during the course of the programme.
