img_0504The biggest hobby in Doha is surely shopping. We all like spending our hard earned riyals in one of the many malls, but what the country has lacked so far is a vintage shop; in this part of the world, there has been very little interest in vintage clothing as people have seen it as wearing other people’s clothes. It’s incredibly popular in the West, however, where a vintage find can make an outfit and set it apart from the rest.

img_0474The status of vintage is slowly changing over here and Huda Al Naemi saw a niche in the market, especially considering Qatar’s new interest in recycling, and started Vintage Boutique, which is on the 2nd floor of Renaissance Hotel. Vintage clothes are the antithesis of waste and throwaway fashion, and in its own way, more elite than buying from an ordinary shop as most of the clothes and accessories will be one-of-a-kind.

img_0475Al Naemi, who has always had an eye for fashion, handpicks all the pieces from her travels, the internet and boutiques. There are known designers, like Gucci and Prada as well as designers who have come and gone, on sale and so whatever you pick, there’s a very small chance of running into someone wearing the same clothes.
