World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) CEO Sultana Afdhal, met recently with Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al Hussein of Jordan during a health policy forum  in Amman, Jordan. The forum was titled, ‘Investing in the Nursing Workforce’. Chair of the health policy forum, Professor Rowaida Al Maaitah, was also in attendance.

The meeting addressed the importance of promoting nursing in the MENA region and globally, and preceded the launch of Nursing Now Jordan by HRH Princess Muna, after the launch of Nursing Now Qatar in March. Nursing Now, which was inaugurated in London and Geneva earlier this year in February, is supported by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the International Council of Nurses. It’s a three-year campaign which aims to improve perception of nurses, enhance their influence, and maximise their contribution to ensuring everyone everywhere has access to healthcare.

HRH Princess Muna is the mother of His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, and is the WHO Patron for Nursing and Midwifery in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, and President of the Jordan Nursing Council. She is a longstanding advocate of nurses and nursing.
