The 16th edition of Project Qatar, the nation’s largest and most prominent construction exhibition, poised to be the broadest and most inclusive to date, is to be held from 29 April – 1 May 2019 at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC). This year’s mega event was announced by the organisers at a press conference today at Intercontinental Doha – The City, attended by partners, sponsors, international diplomats, and VIP guests.

Held under the Patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the three-day exhibition and conference is Qatar’s longest-running construction event and international trade fair that specialises in construction and all related industries.

The 2019 event is set to be the most diverse and comprehensive edition. Organised by International Fairs and Promotions (IFP) Qatar, the exhibition will feature more than 500 of the most recognised international and local brands and companies from 34 different countries.

The future focus of this year’s event will highlight innovation in the construction sector, and one of the exhibition’s dedicated product zones is ‘Smart District’ which is dedicated to Qatar’s Smart Nation Programme. The Smart District is a platform for smart technology providers, urban planners, innovators and other industry specialists to explore the requirements for Qatar’s digitised cities and connect with local stakeholders while showing the cutting-edge innovations implemented in building, energy, and transportation.

‘The Future of Construction in Qatar’ is the theme of Project Qatar Conference 2019, which returns for the second year. The conference is certified by CPD, and the first day will feature keynote addresses by His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa Bin Jassim Bin Mohammed Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar Chamber; Youssef Abdul Rahman Al-Emadi, Projects Affairs Director at the Public Works Authority (Ashghal); and Sheikha Alanoud bint Hamad Al Thani, Managing Director of Business Development at the Qatar Financial Centre, among other officials.

To support the continuous development of professionals in the construction field in Qatar, a series of training and workshops certified by CPD London, IMA, and ASTM International, is offered by Project Qatar this year free of charge. The sessions will be taking place during the exhibition, from 1 pm – 2:30 pm daily.

Commenting on the participation of Turkey, which hosts the second largest pavilion at the exhibition after China, Burak Guresci, Commercial Counsellor, the Embassy of Republic of Turkey, said:
