The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara continues its intensive preparations for the launch of the 7th edition of the Katara International Hunting and Falconry Exhibition – S’hail 2023, which will be held from 5 to 9 September at the Katara Cultural Village.

The exhibition is the largest international forum for the latest weapons and the best supplies of hunting equipment and supplies for off-road excursions. It is the largest gathering of falconry and hunting enthusiasts in the Gulf region and the Middle East, attracting companies specialised in the best weapons, products and equipment in the world of falconry and hunting.

Participants from 18 countries

The 7th edition will be marked by the participation of over 190 local and international companies from Qatar and at least 18 countries around the world, including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

According to the event’s organising committee, 80% of participating companies are national companies, including several which are classified as ’emerging’, a reflection of S’hail’s success in attracting local participants. Many of the local companies, however, also represent major international companies.

Several government ministries will also be joining the exhibition to provide services to visitors and guests, including the issuance of licences for the possession of weapons and hunting equipment, licences for hybrid birds and passports for falcons sold during the exhibition.

The area allocated for the exhibition has increased by 10% this year, distributed over three areas in Katara:

  • Area A – the main tent that occupies Al-Hikma Square and where the S’hail Auction Theater takes place. It will house the rarest types of falcons and display hunting supplies and equipment.
  • Area B – the hall for arms and hunting rifles companies.
  • Area C – the big tent, designated for four-wheel-drive car supply companies
  • An external area will also be set up, dedicated to the display of the most luxurious types of mobile caravans.

The organising committee said that the S’hail auction will allow all falconry and hunting enthusiasts in Qatar and from around the world to participate and compete electronically for falcons offered from anywhere.

Round-the-clock auction

Interested participants may submit an electronic application prepared especially for this purpose. Everyone will have the chance to participate in the auction, which will be open around the clock until the end of the auction on closing day. An alert system linked to the rising and public bidding operations on the birds will be made accessible to participants.

Competition

There will also be a competition for the most beautiful pavilion and the most beautiful burqa (falcon head cover) and a contest for the most beautiful presentation of foods prepared from prey meat.

All entry procedures will be via an electronic system. Visitors will get a one-time ticket that will allow access throughout the duration of the exhibition.
