Did you know that Shanghai Club, that posh venue on the 43rd floor of JW Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel, offers quite a relaxing afternoon tea escape for ladies every Tuesday? 

The ‘tea party’ starts with treats, served in a layered black tray, a glossy contraption that provides a nice contrast to the sweet and savoury flavours of at least 12 different colourful bites.

If you plan to impress a friend or indulge in a glamorous afternoon tea party, consider this latest offering from Shanghai Club. For QAR350, their Ladies Only Afternoon Tea – good for two – offers an opulent selection of pan-Asian bites and exquisite patisserie paired with a curated choice of Chinese tea and mocktails.

We each took a glass of the mocktail on offer, pretty and subtly sweet, and two pots of hot tea – the mild Ginger Calm Tea and my personal favourite, the sweet flowery concoction called the Happy Forest Tea.

The dainty bites looked much too dainty to bite, but this set of treats nourished and unfortunately could spoil your appetite for dinner. The only reasonable option would be to take an earlier slot – they offer slots from 2 pm until 4 pm and from 4 pm until 6 pm. Book an earlier slot so that you can have your cake and eat it, properly, with a pot of tea (or glasses of mocktails).

In addition to tea, Shanghai Club also offers a live performance and a stunning view of West Bay. The afternoon tea is available only on Tuesdays and exclusively for ladies only.
