On Tuesday,  21 March, the Qatar Concert Choir (QCC) will present its first public concert of the year- A Musical Mosaic – at the United School International auditorium at The Pearl.

QCC’s pool of singers comes from all over the world and from a multitude of cultural backgrounds, so it only makes sense that artistic director Giovanni Pasini has chosen music representing a range of countries and styles. Together, the songs create a glorious picture of music through the centuries, from ancient Arabian melodies to Disney musicals, and from the ‘usual’ opera to rock operas like the Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.

Pasini said their singers are so versatile and really enjoy singing a variety of styles. He said that the concert demonstrates their ability, but lots of fun at the same time.

Tuesday’s performance includes guest appearances from the brilliant French soprano Fabienne Conrad, percussionist George Oro and Qatar’s own Cinemoon Ensemble, which is also part of the amazing Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.

Pasini, who, when not conducting, is Principal Viola in the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, added that they’re so lucky to have such talented performers available to join them in Doha.

This is the first time that QCC is holding a concert at the United School International and QCC President Béatrice van der Haert said they are really excited to be performing in such a wonderful new venue.
