The highly anticipated simultaneous exhibitions – Big 5 Construct and INDEX Design Qatar opened its doors to the public this Monday, 23 October, at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC). The two events will run until Wednesday, 25 October.
The successful opening was led by Public Works Authority Ashghal Project Affairs Director Engineer Yousef Abdul Rahman Al Emadi with organisers NeXTfairs Vice Chairman Abdul Aziz Saad Al Kaabi and dmg events Vice President Muhammad Kazi. Government officials, ambassadors, VIP guests and members of the media were also in attendance.

Following the official opening, dignitaries were given a VIP tour to meet representatives of the different participating brands. The quality of participants in this year’s exhibitions is a testament to the event’s importance, as they provide a platform to nurture industry growth and foster innovation.
These transformative exhibitions will directly advance Qatar’s booming construction industry, which is forecasted to be valued at US$76 billion by 2027.
NeXTfairs co-founder and General Manager Rawad Sleem said that the patronage of Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the presence of esteemed VIP guests and dignitaries showcases the reputation that INDEX Design and Big 5 Construct Qatar have created in Qatar and global audiences.
He said that this year’s events have been further elevated by being co-located with Cityscape, creating additional benefits and opportunities for visitors and potential buyers. With the largest participation of exhibitors from over 25 countries, Sleem said they are proud to have partnered with dmg events and the expertise they bring to the local market.
He said that their tactical partnership strengthens the experience for professionals, supporting further industry growth, as they welcome thousands of attendees.
Meanwhile, Muhammed Kazi, Vice President for Construction at dmg events said this year’s trade fairs will enable critical sector conversations within the buoyant construction, interiors and fit-out industries, as well as showcase sector-specific enhancements for early adoption.
All these, according to him, will act as a contributor to local infrastructure projects, facilitated by the country’s commitment of US$16.4 billion to infrastructure and real estate projects by 2025, as part of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Ashghal pavilion
According to Ashghal Director of the Building Projects Department, Engineer Jarallah Al Marri, they are presenting a special pavilion that showcases the quality projects recently completed by Ashghal, as well as its current infrastructure developments.
Ashghal’s participation enhances cooperation with fellow government entities, institutions, and design and construction experts. The exhibition serves as a vital opportunity for broader meetings with consultants, contractors and local and international suppliers.
At the pavilion, Ashghal also presents the latest developments and technologies in the field of construction, together with important environmental sustainability initiatives launched and implemented in prestigious ongoing projects.
Event programme
The opening day programme included a series of open discussions amongst industry leaders, INDEX Design Talks. The lively programme featured representatives from the Arab Engineering Bureau (AEB), KEO, Ink Design, and Qatar Foundation together with a number of Qatari entrepreneurs.
