The Qatar British Business Forum (QBBF) held a luncheon event at the Four Seasons Hotel recently, where Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the State of Qatar, Ajay Sharma, addressed over one hundred and forty QBBF members.

Following the recent visit to Doha of UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Boris Johnson MP, Ambassador Sharma updated business leaders on the current situation in the region. Members of the British Embassy’s Department for International Trade (DIT) also attended the luncheon event.

The QBBF luncheon events encourage businesses to meet, collaborate and share ideas on supporting trade between Qatar and the United Kingdom.

QBBF Chairman Emad Turkman MBE, said Qatar and the UK share a long history, and the British community in Qatar is the largest European community living and working in the country, with many members living in Qatar for more than twenty years.

It is in the community’s interest to safeguard their business interest and increase the cooperation between the two countries to try and overcome the difficulties created by the unjust action of the few regional countries.’

The British ambassador also said that the gathering is an important event given the current situation in the region.

It was an opportunity to reassure businesses that the UK-Qatar relationship remains as strong as ever, and that British businesses should continue to make the most of the significant opportunities in Qatar.’
