To celebrate the hard work and dedication of the Class of 2023, CUC Ulster University recently held a graduation ceremony at the Pullman Doha West Bay to confer graduates with their well-deserved master’s and bachelor’s qualifications and prestigious higher national diplomas.

As part of the evening’s programme, the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra delivered an elaborate performance that captivated the hearts and minds of all in attendance.

In his address to the new graduates, Ministry of Education and Higher Education Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Affairs Dr Khalid Al Ali said that witnessing the graduates’ accomplishments and their unwavering dedication is truly inspiring.

CUC Ulster University Executive Dean Dr Faris Gorashi also expressed pride in the graduates’ achievements.

He said that the celebration marks the culmination of many long hours of hard work and dedicated study that the students have so reverently put in. Dr Faris encouraged the graduates to transcend their roles as degree holders and urged them to embrace their destiny as architects of their future.

Ulster University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Paul Bartholomew, meanwhile, highlighted the partnership between City University College and Ulster University. He acknowledged the contributions of staff and faculty in the students’ academic success.

The professor also reminded the graduates of their position in the global alumni network, which boasts more than 220,000 Ulster University graduates spread across the world. He highlighted the prospects that lay before the graduates, acknowledging their capacity to shape industries, communities and futures.

HE Jonathan Wilks CMG, the UK’s Ambassador to Qatar, also shared his wisdom with the graduates and the special nature of the international collaboration between the UK and Qatar.

Solid foundation

Student representatives Said Ali Qayum Khan Mir Badshah, Ali Ahmed Ali Abdully Alyazidi and Dr Jowhara Hamad S Al-Qahtani shared their experiences and emphasised the solid foundation provided by CUC Ulster University in their academic journey.

Badshah said that the education they received at CUC Ulster University Qatar is a solid foundation that they are grateful to have, opening career opportunities and in his case, an entrepreneurial journey,  going forward.

Alyazidi shared that as a fellow dreamer, he saw the ups and downs, the late-night moments of doubt and the joys of success.

Your journey through your university with all the challenges and achievements has been about more than just gaining knowledge. It’s been about discovering who you are and who you can become.

Dr Al-Qahtani, also shared her sense of apprehension with fellow graduates, followed by a remarkable transformation that allowed her to come through with flying colours. She said that the programme equipped her with the necessary knowledge and nurtured her personal and professional growth as a part of the women leaders of tomorrow.

Several awards were presented to outstanding students for their exceptional academic achievements, leadership, and community service.

The awards exemplify the commitment of City University College and Ulster University to nurture well-rounded individuals ready to make a positive impact on society.
