Dana Al Fardan, critically acclaimed Qatari musician, composer, songwriter and a symphonic artist will celebrate International Women’s Day with a special concert at the Qatar National Library.

On 13 March 2019, Dana Alfardan will present her ‘Sounds of Qatar’ concert hosted by Qatar National Library. The event will feature several of Dana’s most notable compositions including work commissioned by the Library, Qatar Museums and Qatar Airways.

Dana Alfardan, whose compositions have gained international recognition, has returned to Qatar from a world-wide promotion of the West-End production ‘Broken Wings. The successful businesswoman and musician, who was recently named the official composer for Qatar Airways, will take centre stage for her second concert at this landmark venue in Doha. This concert is being presented in collaboration with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, the Qatar Concert Choir, Aisha and Fares Dehbi.

Dana commented on the event:

I am thrilled to be hosting the concert at this iconic venue, which is celebrating its one-year anniversary in April. I am a champion of women empowerment and I believe in the immense role that Qatari women play in society. This concert pays homage to all of them and I hope it succeeds in highlighting the impact they have created throughout history.’

The music set includes some of Dana’s best-loved and world-famous compositions including; the famous ‘The Sounds of the Library’, a song composed for the Qatar National Library, and ‘Dialoguesa song specially created for the international touring exhibition of Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum.

Also on the line-up is the hit song ‘One Nation’ featuring Aisha and Fariz, which is a call for unity and a declaration of the Nation’s pride in the wake of the blockade. ‘One Nation began with a call for volunteer performers on Instagram and evolved two weeks later into a fully -fledged song and a video demonstrating the solidarity and brotherly spirit that prevailed over the circumstances.

Closing with style, the concert will witness the first ever live performance of the song ‘Raise Our Flag’, composed by Dana in tribute to the drive, dedication and valour of the Qatari National Team for their amazing performance during the Asian Cup 2019. The song was arranged & orchestrated by Maias Alyamani, and it will be performed by Aisha, musicians from the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra and the Qatar Concert Choir.

The concert is free of charge and open to the public and is set to take place from 6 pm – 7 pm.
